"Reserves in Nova Scotia" ... by Alex Tesar, The Canadian Encyclopedia (last update July 24, 2018) -- July 28, 2018 Princess Anne, Maryland, was the first Maryland town to recognize formally the history of Acadians in Maryland following their expulsion from Nova Scotia, Canada in 1755. The official dedication of the "Acadians in Maryland" sign took place on July 28, 2013 – the "Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval."
