News and Reflections: "Rebuilding the Habitation 335 Years later" -- August 6, 2022

"Following  authoritative research in France, the Canadian government undertook the  rebuilding of the Habitation, employing local tradesmen in its  construction. The Port Royal Habitation was opened in 1940."  Click here to read about the reconstruction of the 1605 "Habitation" back in the 1930s, those who championed this monumental undertaking, and heroic efforts that continue today to keep it going.

About the 2020 IACP 40 Under 40 Awardees "The 2020 40 Under 40 awardees represent the top rising leaders from around the globe, exemplifying leadership, dedication, and service to their communities and the law enforcement profession."

"As a member of the Acadien-Métis Souriquois of Nova Scotia and the LGBTQ community, Inspector Landry has taken part in numerous initiatives to support diversity and inclusion within and outside of the RCMP. In every posting, he has volunteered in the communities he served, believing strongly in everyone having a role to play in improving their communities."

We had a perfect summer day for the bazaar!

AAMS Office Administrator, Claire, provides info, sells sashes hats, and AAMS custom logo license plates (at cost!)  while past president and AAMS board member, Paul Tufts, explains the history of Acadian Metis. AAMS Treasurer, Mike Deveau, arranges the AAMS 50-foot sash and chats with visitors.

Everyone joined in the festivities at the Clare bazaar -- even a furry friend who was dressed in Evangeline costume!
