Unravelling the Riddles of Metis Definition, by Harry W. Daniels and Paul L.A.H. Chartrand, 2001.

The objective of the paper, written by Harry Daniels and Paul Chartrand, is to give a general explanation of issues and concerns surrounding the meaning of the term Metis, to explore the topics of identity, ethnicity and the defining of a Metis people.

Emphasized are the need for continuing discussion and the role of the Metis people themselves in establishing an ethnic Metis identity.  The Daniels and Chartrand paper may be downloaded from the site.
